Thousands more to get the pink slip!

October 15, 2008

Shock during festive season!

It's the festive season but there is hardly any reason for cheer. The days of fat pay cheques and festival bonuses are over atleast for the time being. Employees across the globe are worried with many global giants laying off their staff in big numbers...

In India, Jet Airways shocked its employees by laying off as many as 1000 staffers. Many were waiting for their office cars to go to work when they got the bad news!

After joining hands with arch rival Kingfisher, private carrier Jet Airways has laid off employees to rationalise its operations.

Many more employees are likely to lose their jobs in the coming months. It would be a setback to thousands of youngsters looking forward to a high-flying career in the aviation sector.

The entire force of unconfirmed staff is being laid off on a 30-day compensation package, a top Jet Airways official, told PTI. The staffers have been retrenched from across all operations.

Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines, both of which account for 60 per cent market share in India had announced an alliance on Monday to share their resources and routes.
