Indian banks robust, says Chidambaram

October 1, 2008
Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram on Tuesday said that the market regulations would be tightened if needed to deal with the consequences of a widening global financial crisis.

He also added that the Indian market is sound and is still attractive and there was no need to panic. Chidambaramís remarks came amid global financial turbulence, collapsing banking giants, sinking stock markets and rumors of ICICI Bankís poor financial strength.
