Why Nano bookings won't start before Sept

May 20, 2008

How much work has been done

According to a factory insider, almost 60 per cent of the work at the Nano factory is over and it will take another three months for the factory to be fully operational. The engine shop, paints shop and weld shop are almost complete.

"In the initial phase, some of the critical assembling and machine-related work are being done at the company's Pune unit but once work gets over here, entire production will take place at Singur," he said.

CPI-M zonal committee member Lakshmikanta Das too corroborated this.

"For the moment, the Pune factory is lending support but once the construction work at Singur gets over, it will start operating as a self-sufficient Nano factory," he said.
