'Indian animators are second to none'

July 28, 2008

Why did Toonz Animation India decide to start an academy to teach animation? Is it because there is no proper school in India to train animators?

Setting up an academy was one of our long-term goals when we established Toonz Animation. We felt that being a socially responsible firm, we needed to transfer our expertise and experience in the animation industry to the younger generation.

The need was felt even more with the realisation that we have a burgeoning gap between qualified animators and their numbers available, and the industry demand.

The animation industry in India is struggling with problems like attrition and lack of skilled manpower even before it has really taken off.

Toonz Academy, one of South Asia's leading 3D and 2D animation training facilities, was established in the year 2002 as an in-house training department of Toonz Animation India Pvt Ltd.
