Inflation at 13-year high; soars to 11.91%

July 17, 2008

Inflation inched up to 11.91 per cent mainly due to higher prices of some food items and various petroleum products which may prompt the Reserve Bank of India to further tighten money supply in its quarterly review slated for July 29.

During the week ending July 5, inflation moved up marginally by 0.02 per cent from 11.89 per cent in the previous week and 4.61 per cent in the corresponding week a year-ago.
