Tata Motors [Get Quote] may be facing an uncertain future over its Nano project in West Bengal.

But in Uttarakhand, the auto major is seeking concession on lease rent as well as some more land from the state government in the Pantnagar industrial estate, where it has a manufacturing facility for Ace trucks.

Official sources today said the company has demanded that the lease rent for its 1,000-acre industrial plot should be lowered to Re 1 per sq metre from the present rate of Rs 5.

The company is also seeking an additional 100 to 200 acres in Pantnagar for housing. However, a decision regarding Tata Motors' demand is still pending before the government for a long time now, the sources said.

"We want to settle all the issues pertaining to Tata Motors as early as possible," said the official, adding there was no timeframe as there had been suggestions to make a generic policy on the issue.

The previous Congress government had allotted Tata Motors 1,000 acres of prime land at the Pantnagar industrial estate at a throw-away price, expecting the company to set up the Nano project in the hill state.
