When the franchises were auctioned, Shah Rukh snared Kolkata for only $75.09 million. Mukesh Ambani -- heaven knows he is a capable businessman -- shelled out $111.9 million for Mumbai, equivalent to what Randy Lerner paid for soccer club Aston Villa.
Liquor baron Vijay Mallya spent $111.6 million for Bangalore, almost as much as he paid for the Spyker F1 team that will compete as Force India.
When the first free market of cricketers opened on February 20 with the players' auctions, it was Shah Rukh who achieved the -- sorry -- maximum bang for the buck.
