Want to succeed in business? Grow or die!

April 07, 2008

Grow or die! Every businessperson must understand this stark reality. In today's intensely competitive, technology-driven global marketplace, no enterprise -- including yours -- can be sustained without growth.

In fact, I believe that a flourishing business should double in size every five years. It's an ambitious goal but at the same time a reasonable measure of an aggressively managed firm, firing on all cylinders, on track to reach its full potential.

Although the task may seem daunting, it doesn't have to be. I've developed an easier and better way to promote healthy growth in a business -- a unique approach that stems from my 45-year career as an entrepreneur and a corporate CEO. My way capitalizes on a strategic asset that is already present in the company.

You see, it's been my experience that every enterprise has at least one underutilized existing strength that can be the centerpiece of a powerful growth strategy. This unexploited strength is often hidden deep inside the firm, waiting to be discovered and put to work. When it is, it becomes your business's Inside Advantage.

The approach works because it's single-minded, uncomplicated, and practical. As the pages of this book will reveal, I've proved that it works -- my businesses and my clients' businesses have prospered because of it. Finding and using the Inside Advantage in your business will enable you to prosper too.

If you follow the course of action I've laid out in this book, you will evaluate your firm's inventory of special ideas, products, services, processes, or ways of working, and identify your most marketable strength.

To know more about the key traits of successful business ventures, read on . . .
