The Dirt Track Test

Text: Surrinder Pannu

We started rolling towards the climb and the engine was pushing this huge weight very comfortably without putting into 4X4, we got tempted to stretch this big baby and started pelting a bit, because of the weight it does oversteer but if you know how to handle this mammoth it works well apart from you need to be careful while doing serious off-roading as the belly touches the ground.

I tried climbing a hillock which was difficult for a human to climb without support; needless to say, this mammoth climbed (crawled) over it although the grass was dense due to early morning dew and the tyres were spinning more than it should... I brought the SUV down by sliding sideways and accelerated in second gear while turning the vehicle towards the right & and left simultaneously (in full control) and this hunk was doing donuts and turned to my desired path while doing opposite locks. It was good fun on the dirt in spite of the size and the weight (two tonnes).

However, the presence of 4WD control switch is not really appreciable as it's too tiny, and can be located near the gear shift. Having said that, shifting from 2WD to 4WD is not at all tricky, though!
