The store has tie-ups with Hong Kong Bank and Citi Financial to provide consumer finance for easy purchases. "It's our way of telling shoppers -- if you don't have money to pay for something now, don't fret," says the CEO.
For those who hate queues, the store offers a portable price scanner with which tech-savvy customers can make a list of items along with prices. That way, when it's their turn at the cash counter, they can simply produce the scanner to get an automated bill in a jiffy. "Although people are yet to get the hang of this tool, I am sure they will soon be taken by its convenience," says Livermore.
He adds that HyperCITY is manned by 340 trained personnel. "We recruited 100 people three months before our launch and trained them extensively," he says. And there are plans for further recruitment in order to cope with the "enormous weekend sale."
