Here comes the Fiesta!

The much-awaited car from the Ford family has finally rolled out in India.

Targetting the rapidly growing midsize segment of the passenger car industry in India, a core team of Indian engineers worked with product development teams from the UK, Germany and Australia on the project.

Bill Ford, chairman, Ford, said that the Fiesta had been specifically designed to meet Indian conditions. "Fiesta is truly a product of and for the Indian market," Ford said, pointing out that engineers from India had been involved in the design and development stage of the car.

Ford India has received bookings for 2,000 units of the Fiesta model. The delivery would commence in the second week of December. While 68 per cent of the orders were for the diesel version and 32 per cent opted for petrol.
