Choosing a destination

January 15, 2009
Ready reckoner: What kind of destination should you choose?

Home stays

It's like staying at your relative's house, with all the cleanliness and wholesome meals, but without the fuss and bother. And, enough privacy to make those special memories.

Best for: Couples who want a quiet holiday surrounded by nature, and are game to try home comforts over five-star standards -- or just prefer them over the sometimes impersonal five-star experience.

Resorts

These are zones dedicated to holidaying, everything specially created for your leisure and pleasure. From accommodation to meals, to entertainment and workouts, to activities and sightseeing, everything is centred around your needs. Beach, forest, lake or hill resorts or even mountain chalets and log huts are all super options.

Best for: Couples who love large buffets and fun activities, especially if they're organised and bacteria-free.
