Indian beauties audition for Miss India

January 12, 2009
Scores of would-be beauty queens thronged the lobby of Inorbit Mall in Malad, Mumbai, on January 10 and 11, 2009. Heads were bent over registration forms, nervous feet tapped the floor and bottles of water were passed around as the Pantaloons Femina Miss India wild card auditions commenced.

This is the first time in the history of the pageant that contestants have been allowed a wild-card entry into the pageant. Young ladies from all over the nation were invited to simply show up at a designated venue in one of four cities -- Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore -- and strut their stuff before a panel of judges. Those who made the grade will participate alongside the conventionally selected contestants in the finale on April 11, 2009.
