Satish Bodas
Designer speak: Abhishek Dutta at LIFW

About the collection: The aDnormal autumn/ winter collection is dedicated to saving the girl child; the line played with feminine colours, embroidery and several fabrics to denote the versatility and empowerment of women. Even the menswear is created along similar lines, representing man's respect for woman. "I started off being inspired by powerful women in history," says Abhishek. "But in our country, the girl child is still unwanted and women are still discriminated against, so I thought, 'Why not take up the cause through my collection?' That is how it came to be that the focus is saving the girl child."

Trends to watch out for this year: "Colours like red, orange and other earthy shades are 'in' this season," says the designer. If you take a look at several other designers' collections besides mine you will find a similar colour trend -- they're bridal but not completely so, if you know what I mean.

Also, fusion clothes are big at the moment -- you can team a jacket with a flowing ghagra-like skirt or vice versa, cigarette pants with a voluminous top and so on. Another trend to look out for is the concept sari -- pre-stitched pieces, which will appeal to youngsters especially, since they are a fresh new style and convenient.

Take on Fashion Week: "I think it's a great platform to do business and showcase your creativity, as a designer. We have buyers coming in every year, reviewing new collections, so it's important to be here season after season."
