Reuben NV
Designer speak: Pria Kataria Puri at LIFW

This award-winning designer supplies her creations to boutiques across the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Pria's Autumn/Winter collection for 2008 oozes taste and feminity.

About the collection: "It's called 'Bombay Glam' and represents the magic of the city -- its a very festive line, an Indo-Western mix of gold, glitter, brocade and French Chantilly lace. Everyone in Mumbai, from the autorickshaw drivers to socialites, is touched by its vibrant atmosphere and the bling factor. I've tried to keep that spirit in mind with 'Bombay Glam'."

Trends to watch out for this year: "Fabrics in the last few seasons have been very fluid and feminine. Things are changing now -- fabrics are heavier and cuts and silhouettes are more voluminous, they're not very form-fitting. Pleats, pin-tucks, empire-waistlines, knee-length dresses are all 'in'.

As far as colours go, watch out for metallics like champagne gold, teal blue and shades of white. Last season I used more fruity shades, but this year it's more classic."

Your take on Fashion Week: "Fashion weeks are very important for both upcoming and established designers. First off, they are easier to participate in than organising your own showings -- more convenient and systematic. Also, a little bit of competition is great -- it takes self-confidence to make a success of yourself at Fashion Week. If you're not confident, you'll disappear from the fashion scene."
