Goa -- More than just beaches!
The decision to vacation in Goa wasn't really planned; my husband and I simply zeroed in on it because we didn't want to visit Munnar or Kodaikanal yet again.
Having made the journey by train, we reached Margao at 5.50 am. The railway station was deserted and much larger than I had expected. After spending a couple of hours here, we were glad to finally come across a cellphone charging facility -- the long train journey had drained our phone battery.
Airfare for Rs 599 and less!
At the Margao bus stand, a long ticket queue greeted us for the Margao-Panjim non-stop shuttle service run by Kadamba. It took us exactly an hour to procure the tickets and settle into the bus. Buying the tickets was more tiresome than the journey!
We reached Panjim in 45 minutes, speeding past paddy fields and crossing the Zuari River. It took another 40 minutes to get a bus to Arpora, which is about 4 km from Calangute. We finally reached our destination, Resort Mello Rosa, at noon.
