Go stylish but practical this monsoon

July 21, 2008
Hot pakoras, a cup of steaming chai and the pitter-patter of raindrops -- the monsoons are certainly a welcome relief after the hot summer months. But while the freshly-fallen rain and cool breeze lure you outdoors, they also make it difficult to look your best; the humidity plays havoc with skin and hair, while your clothes are in perpetual danger of getting drenched. So if you don't want your stilettos to stick in wet mud or your mascara to run in a downpour, here's a few tips to keep both comfy and trendy during the rains.

Grab some colourful raingear

Start off with a bright umbrella -- the market is flooded with a host of different designs in every colour under the sun. We recommend the transparent ones tinted with fluorescent hues -- not only will they protect your hair and skin from the rain, they make for a great style statement.

As for handbags, try to zero in on a large plastic tote -- they look great and are waterproof too.
