By now, you would have a certain comfort level with the asanas. The trick is to extend the duration in each of the poses to a new, challenging high. This also encourages a meditative temper that ushers in control over other aspects of your day, so it is very important to do yoga with this attitude of meditative awareness and stamina.
Ideally, by now you must hold the pose for a minimum of 15 seconds to a maximum of 30 seconds.
Biologically also, it is believed that muscle tone-up happens only when a stretch is held for a minimum of 12 seconds.
So, if you were doing yoga for health reasons and actually start experiencing it, it is time to shift towards the youth-giving, glow-inducing aspect of yoga. This comes only when poses are done in a state of controlled stillness and awareness.
