Now that you have some yogic discipline and regularity, you can turn your attention to yogic diet tips. Initially, do not deny yourself anything, including coffee, tea, refined flour (cakes, pastries, maida), etc. But be aware that these cause serious iron absorption problems, play havoc with your emotions and increase your weight, apart from aggravating insidious problems like blood pressure and diabetes. Start including fresh fruits and vegetables in a phased manner; overdoing the raw stuff can cause gas due to the increased fibre intake.
Once the habit of a healthy awareness towards food starts, you will automatically choose foods that enhance your yoga practise. Addictions, including dietary ones, tend to taper off on
their own once you establish a regular yoga routine. You can also ensure that your breakfast is the most lavish meal of the day, while your dinner is sparse.
In yoga, this ensures a good night's sleep, less digestive disasters, plus longevity and youthfulness.
