Peacock village in Kolkata
February 04, 2008
A nondescript village in India's eastern state of Kolkata is home to more than 500 peacocks. And this unique trait has earned it the name of the 'Peacock Village'.
To the delight of the bird watchers, these peacocks are not only found in the forest areas and in the fields but they even roam about outside the houses. The village is attracting tourists who come here to look at not just one or two peacocks but hundreds of the rare 'Neelkanthi' or blue necked variety.
