How to keep safe in these unsafe times

December 12, 2008
While nothing can completely guarantee your safety against terror strikes like the ones Mumbai fell prey to on November 26, it does pay to be diligent about danger and have a plan in mind in case of an emergency.

Circumstances are never completely under one's control -- danger exists in various forms and for all you know, could be lurking around the corner. It is therefore of paramount importance to plan ahead, in case you find yourself in the eye of a storm.

Here are some steps you can take to reduce the chances of total devastation in the thick of a crisis:

Get life insurance

This one should top your list. The well-being of loved ones is far more important to all of us than our own. Secure a life insurance policy that will take care of your dependants if you arenít around to do so someday.

Says 26-year-old journalist Anupam Chakravartty from Baroda, "I got myself life insurance two years ago, and I'm so glad I did. After the Gujarat riots and terrorist attacks in Mumbai, who knows whatís lurking around the next corner?"
