Fascinating Kemmangundi

Kemmangundi may not have top-of-mind recall as a weekend outing option from Bangalore, but it is definitely one of the prettiest hill stations I have seen -- rustic, untouched and serene. A friend of mine who is an avid travel buff suggested it and we couldn't resist the temptation to explore it.

We set off on our journey from Bangalore very early in the morning. That was the toughest part of the entire trip for a late riser like me. We took the Bangalore-Hubli Janshatabdi Express and got off at the sleepy town of Birur. It took us a little more than three hours to reach the place.

There's a famous little joint in Birur that serves hot Dosas. We went there to have our fill before heading to the local market for Duracell batteries for my digital camera which we didn't get, as it was a small market. So those of you making a trip to Kemmangundi please ensure you carry spare batteries and other essentials items. Thankfully we had another digicam to shoot some of the most breathtaking sights we had ever come across.
