Thumpamon: Where fireflies light up the night

I am back after spending a weekend in Kerala! This place Thumpamon is 24 km away from Chengannur and 4 km off Pandalam the birthplace of Lord Ayyappa.

I have been there before, but this time it was special due to the rains. I visited my uncle's house, an old-style ancestral home redone with all the modern amenities. So we had the best of both worlds!

The house is built in the midst of a veritable forest -- trees and plants of all shapes and sizes. Even at noon you see a green light filtering through the greenery among the vast shadows. The rain had a magical effect on the already lush environment. The leaves glistened and the atmosphere was clean and crisp...
