Anand Kabra's collection, entitled Renato's Malena, is an attempt to capture the varied moods of Malena, Italian screenwriter Luciano Vincenzoni's creation. A young widow, she is wanted by every man and envied by every woman. But to be recognised for what she truly is, in her failings and strengths is what the designer strives for.
The rose was used as the symbol of Malena's determination to survive her circumstances, and each outfit depicted the rose in various shades, style and textures to define the layers the character inspires.
