Drawing inspiration from the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, particularly the capital city of Constantinople/Instanbul, Bal stunned onlookers with the clarity of his vision and perspective. Though he experimented with countless variations of form, shape, cut and colour, the underlying cohesion of 'Siyaahi' remained.
