Chaitanya Rao's spring-summer line, inspired by the fictional worlds
of Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere" turned Lakme Fashion Show in a decidedly
different direction on day three.
"I admire those international designers who ground their work in
fantasy. It's some beautiful, brilliant stuff," he told rediff.com at
the post-show press conference.
"But I've stayed in reality, while still experimenting. It's all very
wearable, very affordable."
This opening number, a neutral orangza gown in white and cream, shows
Chaitanya's commitment to layering and the use of multiple textures
and materials.
