Yercaud: Mining a hell out of heaven

When I visited it nearly 10 years ago, Yercaud, in Tamil Nadu, to me was just a hill station situated near Salem in the lap of the Shevaroyan hill ranges.

But when I went back last year, I was taken aback by the 'development' taking place there.

Airfare for Rs 599 and less!

And I am not talking about what usually happens to any hill station with the advent of commercialization and tourism -- like in Ooty and Kodaikanal, for example -- but the plundering taking place there, courtesy the mining industry.
