Nature's bounty

In Shillong, you will be spoiled for choice of places to visit. Nature lovers can visit the Lady Hydari Park. The greenery is broken by a riot of colours of the seasonal blooms spread across the park.

There are swings, see-saws and merry-go-rounds for kids and a mini zoo that houses monkeys, bears, birds and a leopard. You will have to pay an entrance fee here.

Not too far from the park is the Crinoline Falls, which cascades down to a swimming pool. Swimming competitions are held here every year with a yearly midnight dip on December 31 to usher in the New Year. Brave souls indeed, because the water is frigid at that time of the year!

Another beautiful spot right in the heart of the city is Ward's Lake. You can ride a boat across the placid lake.

A stone's throw away is the Botanical garden, a quiet spot with a wide range of indigenous and exotic plants. It also houses a mini-aviary where you will find rare and colourful species of birds. The paved path makes it a perfect for walking.

Dont miss! Magical Uttarakhand
