Yana Gupta, the belle of this ball

Model Yana Gupta, the showstopper at designer Gayatri Khanna's show, made a dramatic entry.

She sashayed cattily down the ramp in a scintillating black satin-chiffon and gold knit halter neck dress, with plumes in her hair. A heavily embroidered chiffon cape with full sleeves completed the ensemble. With a golden mask in her hand, Gupta looked set for a masquerade ball.

The collection was inspired by art deco, a design movement popular in the 1920's and 1930's. This form of art is an amalgamation of various decorative styles; it inspired architecture, interior design, industrial design, fashion, painting, graphic art and film.

Prices of inidividual pieces in the collection begin at Rs 5,000, and the clothes retail at designer boutiques like Aza, Samsara, Bombay Electric, Cypress and Fuel.
