A new beacon on the fashion horizon

September 1, 2006
There's nothing more inspiring than an artist who is driven and passionate about his or her vocation and has made it to the big league at a young age.

Gaurav Gupta is one such achiever.

A 2000 graduate of NIFT, Delhi and Central Saint Martins', a competitive design school in London, this designer carries his sensibility on his sleeve, literally. Known to play with asymmetry and innovation, the 27-year old paints an avant-garde picture, sporting an asymmetrical hairdo and ensemble to match, clad in Jodhpur-like trousers designed by him, with a pale pink top, and eye-catching belt with a huge silver buckle.

He's not a one-time wonder either. Gaurav's autumn-winter collection was also well received at WL Fashion Week 2006.

Here, we see model Carol Gracious sporting a short fitted piece with 'textual embroidery' made up of fabric, metal sequins and beads.
