omfort meets style
Along with the veterans, 6 budding young designers got to showcase their collections too, following a rigorous short-listing process by the organisers.
Rahul Mishra, a product of the National Institute of Design who will soon be heading for his Masters in fashion design at Milan, received thunderous applause from the audience -- media and buyers alike.
His collection drew inspiration from Kerala and was titled A Ray of Light. We saw skirts, wrap pants, blouses, gowns -- all made of 100 per cent handloom. Borders in orange and gold, an element of Kerala couture, was common to all outfits. The highlight of the show was reversible coats, which could be turned inside out to create a whole new look.
Can you wear these? Yes! High on comfort and style, this stuff is great for sultry Indian weather. It was also one of the most wearable collections. And the grapevine tells us that buyers thought so too.
