esigner Narendra Kumar Ahmed -- or Nari as he is known within the fashion fraternity -- titled his collection In Protest.
The show opened to a series of chimes, as models walked the ramp with bands of cloth covering their mouth. There was no music and the chimes finally gave way to a vacuum of silence.
We saw lots of smart men's wear -- silk shirts, jodhpur trousers, fine embroidery and peace signs on jackets. Also a black pair of jodhpur trousers that had an extra flap of cloth between the thighs, as sported by model Acquin Pais in the image. Women's wear included empire necklines (high waists), dull gold boots, jackets and asymmetrical dress-jackets.
We also saw a smart strapless dress with a fishtail-like hemline. Also in the picture, we have Ujwalla Raut wearing a dressy corset over a flowing maxi skirt.
Can you wear this? We're not too sure about Acquin's pants, but we love Ujwalla's ensemble and most of the other clothes. Nari rocks!
And yes, the question everyone's asking -- what was the protest about? Here's what we think.
