Kuttukari

This is a thick curry made of lentil and mixed vegetables.

~Ingredients

1 cup channa dal
½ cup yam (cubed)
½ cup raw banana (cubed)
½ cup red pumpkin (cubed)
¼ tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chilli powder

Grind to a paste:
3 tbsp coconut (grated)
½ tsp cumin seeds
3 to 4 curry leaves
1 green chilli

For tempering:
¼ tsp mustard
1 or 2 red chillies
1 sprig of curry leaves
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp grated coconut

~ Method

Soak chana dal overnight.

Cook it with yam, banana and pumpkin. Add turmeric, chilli powder and salt.

Add the ground paste to the cooked chana dal and let it boil for five minutes.

Temper with mustard, red chillies, curry leaves and coconut.
