Making Arundhati look awesome

Rahul Nambiar is the man behind the super and mind-boggling special effects of the Telugu hit Arundhati. He is, in fact the creative director and the visual effects supervisor of Arundhati.

Rahul, who has a BFA [Bachelor of Fine Arts] from M S University of Baroda with a specialisation in painting and pottery, has always been interested in 3D space, installations and animation. He was attracted to story telling and wanted to express it visually. To achieve this, he equipped himself on the visual effects front by doing taking specialised courses.

He moved to Hyderabad at the turn of the millennium and set up Firefly with a few friends. He did SFX for films like Chiranjeevi's Anji, and Sekhar Kammula's Godavari.

This self-taught filmmaker is now about to make his directorial debut with Shyam Prasad Reddy, the producer of Arundhati. Rahul tells Radhika Rajamani about how he created SFX for Arundhati and more.

You must be a happy man with the terrific success of Arundhati...

Yes, it's an honour when people appreciate all the effort that has gone into it. When people clap, it's surely an honour.

What do you think is responsible for making Arundhati a hit?

Pure team work. It's an example of their energy and their final synergy. It was great team work of all the technicians. Also, I would add the concept of the protagonist believing in her own strength.
