Katrina Kaif has bagged Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar, which is apparently inspired by the classic The Godfather.

The film stars Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan.

Katrina will play Abhishek's love interest. Kajol's younger sister Tanisha also has a part in Sarkar.

Katrina is sworn to secrecy and won't divulge anything about her role. "Shooting will begin in December," is all she's willing to tell me.

Her film with Salman Khan will release first. The yet untitled comedy is directed by David Dhawan and also stars Sushmita Sen.

"That film is half-complete," she says. "It has been shot in Mumbai and the Maldives. There will be another foreign location later."

Katrina's debut film, Kaizad Gustad's Boom, was a washout. Here's hoping she does better with David and Ramu.

So how does she choose films? "I usually look at the entire setup before saying yes. Films are not made by one man alone," she explains.

Sarkar requires the actress to be foreign-return who is not very fluent in Hindi, so Katrina's inclusion makes sense. But her other film requires her to speak in Hindi.

Katrina says firmly in her accented-English, "It's not very difficult to talk in Hindi. It needs some adjustment. I have to work hard at it. I have taken diction lessons."

The film will release early next year.
