When we speak of Bangalore rural constituency, the first thing that comes to mind is whether Congress candidate, Tejaswini can repeat the feat of 2004. In the 2004 elections, journalist-turned-politician Tejaswini who was contesting elections for the first time managed a big upset by defeating H D Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister of India who was hoping to defend his seat for a second time in a row.
This time Tejaswini is up against Gowda's son and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy and those watching the elections closely are eager to find out whether she will do to Kumaraswamy what she did to his father.
However this time around the going may not be very smooth for Tejaswini when compared to 2004. Political pundits point out that Gowda did not take the elections in 2004 from the Bangalore Rural constituency seriously as he was more focused on his home constituency in Hassan which he ultimately won.
