Let the celebrations begin

That appears to be the idea among workers of various parties who toiled day and night to ensure victory for their respective leaders in the assembly election in five states.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi won the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha by-election by over 400,000 votes. She defeated her nearest rival, the Samajwadi Party's Raj Kumar Chowdhury, by a staggering margin of 417,888 votes.

Congress workers in Rae Bareli showered Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi with petals, while workers in New Delhi celebrated with fireworks and the beat of dholaks.
