It was one of those very hot May mornings. The mercury had already touched 40 degrees though it was only 11 am.
We were at Vridhachalam, a small town in northern Tamil Nadu. This small town is much talked about these days only because the leader of a new political party is contesting from here.
He is the actor turned politician, Vijayakanth -- 'Captain' to his fans after his hit film Captain Prabhakaran.
Interestingly, his newly launched Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam is the only party contesting in all of the state's 234 assembly constituencies.
According to election pundits and opinion polls, Vijayakanth will decide who will rule Tamil Nadu. It all depends which of the major formation's votes he eats into.
