It is 4 in the evening. Ayodhyakuppam, a fisherman's colony that falls under the Chennai South constituency.
Though dominated by middle class and upper middle class voters, Chennai South also has areas like Ayodhyakuppam that are underdeveloped. The constituency has a strong Brahmin vote bank.
As far as past loyalties go, Chennai city has been a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam stronghold for the last few years. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa has been trying hard to break into this constituency without much success.
The DMK candidate is sitting Member of Parliament T R Baalu. He is expected to arrive at 4.30 pm.
