Meanwhile... has Brand Vajpayee lost its appeal? With opinion poll after opinion poll suggesting that the National Democratic Alliance is sliding from its peak popularity of just a couple of months ago and may have to be happy with a bare majority, the laughter lines on the prime minister's face could turn into worry lines after May 13, the day of counting. That could be one reason why the PM has been talking about being tired of running a 22-party coalition and asking for a clear mandate. Watch this space.
