With the first Test over in four days, Indian fans used what would have been the fifth day of the Hamilton Test to check out more adventure in New Zealand. So, with help from
Tourism New Zealand, many were off to Rotorua on Sunday. After a short drive from Hamilton you are there at
Agroventures for the challenge of several activities. Agroventures has the world's only Swoop, Shweeb, Rotorua, Swoop and the Southern Hemispheres' only Freefall Xtreme wind tunnel.
The Swoop is a specially-designed hang gliding harnesses to which you are cocooned. Three people get strapped into a bag-like cocoon and winched 40 metres sky high above the Ngongotaha Stream. You are hauled up while being told to nominate one from the three to pull a ripcord on command. Before you know what's happening, you are high up and having a bird's eye view of the scenic surroundings.
Then the jumpmaster calls 'ready on the ripcord' and someone has pulled the cord. Your heart skips a beat or two as you find yourself plunging towards the earth at 130kmph and swinging back and forth till someone intervenes and brings the bag under control. Great experience!
