India names allrounder Jadeja for Sri Lanka tour
January 19, 2009
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was rewarded for his consistency in domestic cricket on Sunday with a call-up to the India squad for the one-day tour of Sri Lanka starting this month.
India will play five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 international from Jan. 28 in a hastily arranged series to fill the gap left by India's cancelled tour of Pakistan in the aftermath of militant attacks in Mumbai last November.
Schedule: India in Sri Lanka
Jadeja, a 20-year-old from Saurashtra, was among the leading performers in the Ranji Trophy season with his accurate left-arm spin and sound batting. Experienced off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was ruled out of the series with a hamstring injury.
