He is one of Bangladesh's most consistent performers since making his international debut in 2001. He played a key role in Bangladesh's dream run at the 2007 World Cup when they shocked top teams like India and South Africa en route to the Super Eights.
Mortaza's ability to bowl a tight line and length despite the conditions make him a dream bowler for every captain.
Kolkata were also desperate to land a fast bowler after Umar Gul and Shoaib Akhtar were ruled out due to the Pakistan government's ruling. And who better than Mortaza, which would also help them add a sizeable number of fans just across the border, in Bangladesh.

With the Kolkata Knight Riders' announcing that they might play a few of their games in Bangladesh, the decision to recruit Mortaza could well turn out to a master stroke.
Don't be surprised if you hear the Knight Riders anthem 'Karbo Larbo Jeetbo' blaring all over Bangladesh in a few days time.
