Former chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar on Friday described Adam Gilchrist's remarks on Sachin Tendulkar's honesty in his autobiography as just a "marketing gimmick".
"You have to write something sensational to sell a book. I think it's a marketing strategy that Adam Gilchrist has adopted. Very unfortunate, but a fact," Vengsarkar said in Pune.
Gilchrist, former Australian vice-captain, in his autobiography True Colours, scheduled to be released soon, questioned Tendulkar's honesty in the 'Monkeygate' controversy during the Sydney Test earlier this year.
