Retiring after beating Aussies was special: Ganguly

India's former captain Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday said it was special to retire from cricket after beating Aussies in his last Test series.

"This day was bound to come one day. [Diego] Maradona, Pele, [Sunil] Gavaskar, they all had to retire. One day, [Sachin] Tendulkar will also retire. This is part of sports," he told reporters at his residence in Kolkata.

The former Indian captain signed off from Test cricket in style on Monday by captaining a victorious Indian team for a few overs in his farewell match.

The stylish former lefthander said that Dhoni is the right man to take India forward.

The left-hander also addedd that he would miss his all team-mates and particularly Sachin Tendulkar. "Sachin was very close to me. Lot of other boys in the team were also close. I will miss their company."
