Kolkata Knight Riders lost both their matches against eventual champions Rajasthan Royals. The first of the defeats was followed by a war of words between Rajasthan captain Shane Warne and his Kolkata counterpart Sourav Ganguly.

The former was unhappy with the latter for not going by the umpire's decision and accused him of lacking sportsmanship. Ganguly was not one to take things quitely.
Warne eventually had the last word by winning the tournament while Ganguly's side failed to even reach the last four and also occupied the bottom slot in the fair play rankings.
