At the start of the hearing, conducted in a courtroom-like setting, the opposing camps lined up on either side. Australia was represented by Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke, Mathew Hayden and Andrew Symonds; the Indian team was represented by Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Tendulkar (who was batting with Singh at the time of the incident) and media manager MV Sridhar.
