Australia vice-captain Adam Gilchrist stunned the world of cricket on Saturday when he announced his retirement from cricket during the fourth Test against India in Adelaide.
Gilchrist finished his Test careeer after the fourth and final Test on Monday, which ended in a draw. The forthcoming triangular one-day series against India and Sri Lanka will be his last international assigment.
"It is with great pride and happiness that I make the decision to retire from Test and one-day cricket," Gilchrist said in a statement.
The Australian wicketkeeping legend capped his last day in Test cricket with two catches to take his final career tally to 416 dismissals, three days after breaking the world record for a wicketkeeper.
