An attempted pull off the next delivery from Lee saw Tendulkar edge the shot painfully to his left knee.
The impact left him squirming in agony and as help was rushed from the dressing room, an early drinks was taken with eight minutes to the hour.
On resumption, Tendulkar, still hobbling, tried to pull the first delivery and only succeeded in sending it straight to Brad Hogg at the fine leg boundary.
