Captain Andrew Strauss dragged a tossed up delivery by Ramesh Powar on to his stumps to end a well made innings of 80 including 14 fours.
Strauss, who was dismissed cheaply in the first innings, started confidently in the second getting off the blocks with a beautiful cover drive off Zaheer Khan. He repeated the doze to S Sreesanth when the pacer overpitched to pick up another delightful four.
His partner, Joe Denly (18) flicked Sreesanth for four when he strayed down the leg. Another short one from the same bowler was pulled brutally to the midwicket fence. Zaheer then earned the first breakthrough for India after Denly failed to reach the pitch of the ball that flew off the top edge straight to Wasim Jaffer at short cover.
